What is the best Atlanta suburb to live in?

I will be working in Clarkston, but do not want to live there. I was thiking about Norcross or Stone Mountain. If anyone could provide me information about these areas (or any other communities nearby) I would really appreciate it. In particular, I'm interested in how safe the community is and what the apartment choices are like (still have to rent). Anything else that seems relevant would be appreciated.

I like Norcross. Apartments are pretty affordable and very nice to live in. I wouldn't go for Stone Mountain. Dunwoody is also really nice but apartments would be a little bit more. If you don't mind a strange mixture (at least strange to me) you could try Chamblee or Doraville which are both near norcross. The cities are made up of equal part hispanic and asian communities. They have great food markets though.

There are different types of ppl in different areas. Gwinnett county has the most various backgrounds, like Chinese, Indian, Russian, Hispanic and any other race you can think of. It's the most versatile, But it's also the most crOwded and congested. That is located on the NE of Atl. On the other hand you can find more open land in the NW side with less versatility, in Paulding county. The richest areas are in East Cobb, Roswell, and Alpharetta, Among a few other little spots like Buckhead. I have lived all over the Atlanta area and prefer the NW side, in Paulding county. The traffic is not as bad as it is in Gwinnett. There is also more land that has not been developed, unlike Gwinnett where there is building on top of building and also very over populated. you can find good and bad areas in any city you go to. As for Macon Ga., I've lived there too and it's pretty rough. Noone could pay me to live there again. Like the person above said, it depends on ur likes and needs.

Stone Mountain is too far away from everything. Norcross is okay, but there are a lot of mexicans. I would say Roswell, or Dunwoody.

Kennesaw is one of the fastest growing suburbs in the region. The mountain range offers a scenic view and historical monuments abound.

Decatur, Georgia is located in Dekalb County, which is right next door to Fulton County, where Atlanta is located. Decatur has a lot of history and is a very diverse, culturally aware community.

Newton's Crest: A Snellville community, Newton’s Crest features single-family homes in two plans, two-story or ranch-style. The three- and four-bedroom homes range from 1,800 to 3,000 square-feet and are priced from the $180s to the $230s. The homes feature all brick siding, hardwood foyers, pre-wired security systems and vaulted ceilings.

Horizon at Wildwood: A luxury 19-story high-rise in the heart of the Wildwood area on Powers Ferry near Windy Hill Road in Cobb County. The condos will be priced from the mid $100s to the high $700s.

Sierra West Townhomes: 2-bedroom, 2 1/2 bath townhome community located in Norcross. Many amenities, and value priced starting in the mid-100's.

Luther's Mill - Villa Rica: New single-family housing development in the historic town of Villa Rica, located in Douglas County. The development offers reasonable rates and luxurious amenities.

Riviera Terrace on Briarcliff Rd. will feature 44 two-and three-bedroom homes ranging from 1,000 to 1,260 square-feet and priced from the $160s to the $180s. Amenities include two bathrooms, stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, huge kitchen islands, walk-in closets, washer/dryer hookups and hardwood floors throughout the homes.

Hillside Trace in Forsyth County: Hillside Trace features single-family homes priced from the $370s to $500s and ranging from 3,000 to 3,400 square-feet. Barrington Trace sits in the heart of the Camp Creek area in south Atlanta. Conveniently located to I-285, much of Atlanta is just minutes away.

Fairington Ridge: Affordable condo development in Lithonia with 3-bedroom, 2-bath homes from $95,000. Easy interstate access.

The Park at Roswell will offer brick and stone two-story, single-family four-bedroom homes, from 3,000 – 4,000 square feet and priced from the high $600s to the $700s. The homes will feature shake accents, basements, hardwood floors on main levels, 10-foot ceilings on main floor and nine-foot ceilings on the upper floor.

With a maximum twenty minute communte, these are my safe choices, Decatur-city of decatur, sandy springs, dunwooody, emory university area.

as far north as u can and leave you house at 5;00am to avoid the rush, traffic is a real bad mess!
