Look in the yellow pages of your phone book under the heading of Child Care Referral Services. You should find several agencies that maintain lists of licensed daycare homes and centers. They can help you find a care situation that suits your needs.

I am not sure about daycares around you but there is a daycare they have here in california that you can get a checklist to print out what to look for in a good daycare. I have the address below. Most places let you take a tour. I would just go there and ask to see theri facility because if you make an appointment they know you are comeing and can hide anythign that should be hidden.

Also my best advice on finding a great daycare is go with your intuiton of you and your children!! i had my son in an awful daycare and it felt off from the beginning. The one he is in now I feel very comfortable with.

Also you can go down to your city and ask them for a list of reputable daycares that they recomend or if there is a number you can call to see if the daycare has any infractions agains it. You should be able to call the daycare ask for their licence number and then call number the city gave you.

I did this and the daycare I had my son in and there were reports of infants being picked up by their arms and being left in the swings all day without diaper changes even though they had written that they had changed the diaper. my son actually regressed instead of learing there. i would come in and it would be so dark and the women would be cussing up a storm and all the toddlers would be crying on a cold hard classrom floor with one toy to the lot of them. Awful awful. I wasn't useing my eyes with that one lol

Good Luck!

My state has a website for the office of children and family services. You can look up daycare providers in the area, and their info. Check and see if there is anything like that for your state. Any questions you may have, just call or stop by a daycare and I'm sure they would be happy to help you. If not, you're at the wrong daycare.

Sweetie, do you have neighbors? Get your recommendations from them. Also, to to the elementary schools and your local school bus company. They usually pick up children from Day Care centers and will know which centers are nearest to you. Once they give you recommendations, have the center checked by calling DCF. You also need to be able to see the center, talk to the teachers, see your child's interaction with the other children, their learning program and ratio of teacher to child. Don't depend on strangers (the people on this board) to give you the answers you need. This is a critical decision for you, and one that causes many parents fear. It will be one of the hardest things you'll do in your boys' young lives, but you are doing the responsible thing and are to be commended. Good luck to you.

sometimes if you call DHS you can request a copy of the daycares reports...just says if they've ever had any complaints or violations of code or anything like that.

in case you do not have custody you do not favor to understand the position she is going to daycare. you would come and kidnap or harass her. also, if you're actually not finding out to purchase it you do not favor to understand both.
