each have their own strengths and weaknesses. why does one have to be "better?"

Allah has made both male and female equal. Each have rights and responsibilites over one another.
They each have duties toweards one another, their children, family and community and towards ALlah. Allah did not create us in vain to lower one of us and to raise the other. He created both of us, male and female, for a sole purpose of worshipping Him.
We are created to work along together. The world wouldn't be without one or the other!

Statistically speaking, if you looked at all the crimes that are in the record books, and took all the crimes that women have commited, and put them on one side of a balancing scale, then took the crimes that man has committed, and put them on the other side, well that scale would smash to the ground on the mens side. So I would say that the female race is much better.

It depends what you are asking they are better at? Men are physically strong, but women have more dexterity (did you ever wonder why they always have women working at factories that require slight touch and placement of small objects). So, that is too general of a question. Also, some might say that men appear to rule the world, but even Presidents have to answer to their wives.

Both as intelligent as one another but the male will always be the strongest and fastest because of their physique as all sports prove that fact!

There is no "better". We need each other if the species is to survive. If we wouldn't try to prove which of us is better but worked in partnership we wouldn't have a lot of the problems we see in society.
