Keep in mind that the same people who say that any bad choices or bad people in general are "victems" of Satan's influence are decendants of the belief that colds, the flu, coughing, and various mental disorders (way back over two hundred years ago) were symptoms of a person being possessed by the devil. It's amazing how many times the "one true" religions have had to modify, rewrite, and omit their so-called "perfect" religion. If it was so damn perfect and true, then it wouldn't have had to be changed even as times and cultures did.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.

The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of Gods plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.

Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.

Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.

Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It’s meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

if you realy believe in G-D then satan may do evil to you, but cannot make you do, his evil for him. but if you do not realy believe in G-D, continued disbelief without repent, shall make you more and more susceptable to the work of satan, the baal molech, or the lucifer for them. either you truly believe in G-D, or truly you lose that freedom of choice.

only you can choose what you do.
"satan" or "god" (if you choose to believe in either of them...and if you believe in the traditional concept of one you have to believe in the other) can INFLUENCE you, but it is your decision whether to follow that influence and act on it or to resist the influence.

and if you choose to act, then the responsibility and consequences are yours alone. unless you outwardly claim that "the devil made me do it" or "god told me to", in which in both cases you will be thought of a crazy person.
so act if you must, but keep your mouth shut and accept the consequences or rewards as yours alone.

Satan only has influence over you if you allow that. When you tempt a recovering alcoholic with a drink.....that is wrong of you...however it is their choice to allow you to tempt them to the point of drinking again.

You still have the choice!

I don't understand that either. It's just a way to control people by saying that Satan will get you.
