Just for the record, I would like to make sure everyone knows that there is no tea is a Long Island Iced Tea. It is a very strong, alcoholic cocktail. The basic recipe is just equal portions of vodka, gin, triple sec, rum and tequila. Add some Cola and that's it. There are some variations though:
Version 1 (traditional)
1/2 oz vodka
1/2 oz gin
1/2 oz triple sec
1/2 oz light rum
1/2 oz tequila
2 oz sour mix
Mix with ice and then top with Cola.
Version 2
2 cups ice cubes
1 ounce vodka
1 ounce gin
1 ounce white rum
1 ounce white tequila
1/2 ounce triple sec
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
1/2 cup Cola, or to taste
2 lemon wedges
Shake everything but cola and wedges in a cocktail shaker.

It is called a Long Island Iced Tea and it has five different hard liquors in it plus a dash of coca cola not tea and some soda or lime juice garnished with a slice of lemon. Vodka, Rum, Triple Sec, gin, tequila, some lime juice too and, if you want a Long Beach Island Iced Tea add a shot of peach schnappes. They taste great and go down real smooth and can knock you for a loop if you are not careful.

A Long Island Iced Tea is a cocktail made with, among other ingredients, vodka, gin, tequila, and rum. A popular variation mixes equal parts vodka, gin, rum, tequila, and triple sec with 1 1/2 parts sour mix with a splash of cola. Close variants often replace the sour mix with sweet and sour mix or with lemon juice, and the cola with actual iced tea. Some chain restaurants even take the liberty of substituting brandy for the tequila.

you are probably referring to a Long Island Ice Tea. Mostly, it's the clear distilled liquors (vodka, gin, etc.) mixed together with a splash of Cola.

vodka, rum, tequilla, gin, sometimes with triple sec and sour mix. They say it should taste like iced tea, but I've never had one anywhere that didn't taste like a whole lot of alcohol.
