Hi
You should take your cat to the vet they will be able to asses how many friends your cat is carrying and provide the course needed to rid them. your house will need spraying and lots of hoovering the dead flees and eggs, I bath my cat but this should be done as early as kiitenhood for them to be used to it. some cats are allergic to flee colours and tea tree oil can burn the cats skin. Do not use any form of human treatment on a cat. Good luck

Keep the house floor very clean, treat your carpet (if you have one) then vaccum regularly. Keep your cats bed clean, change or launder bedding often. If the cat goes outdoors and theres lawn, treat the lawn with a flea product made for that. This helps take care of places where they breed.
Eucalyptus repels fleas so if you have access, some eucalyptus leaves in your cats bed may help. Eucalyptus oil is available, but may be too strong to put directly on the cat. If the cat wears a collar, you could try putting a little eucalyptus oil on that.
I actually use advantage (one of the spot ons) and frontline (which is much stronger and I only use when I see ticks) only when I am actually having flea issues and only after long discussions with my vet. There are other spot ons that I think are cheaper but I've heard they are much more toxic.

there is not really a permanent way to completely keep fleas off of cats. Spot on is good, i have a cat and recently bought a kitten who was riddled with fleas. i bought the house hold spray available at pet shops and gave the kitten Jonson's flea tablets. he had one every other day for a week and he no longer scratches every 5 minutes i haven't seen a flea for a long time now. so give the tablets a try, i found they really do work and within 15 minutes of the kitten taking the small pill i could see the dead fleas falling off him. hope this answer is of some help. fleas are a pain

Use Sevin rose dust.(Costs a couple of bucks for a few pounds at any garden supply) Put it in a bag made from an old nylon stocking. Fill the foot part with the Sevin and tie it off. Pat the cat and it's bedding with the dust. This will kill the fleas and all the emerging new fleas from the eggs. A Vet taught me this and it works, plus it is CHEAP!!

I found that the Ortho brand insect killer, Indoor/Outdoor, is a great product and it is safe for animals and children as soon as it dries. I have also found that using the Advantage or Frontline (which I know is more expensive, but worth it) and putting majority of the ampule on the animal and a couple of drops on the carpet the fleas will be attracted to the spot on the carpet as well.

I believe that there is a pill that you can give the cat for flea treatment. I know that there is Capstar, but it only kills the fleas for 24 hours.

You can also try feeding the cat garlic oil and brewers yeast. Both have been said to be beneficial in preventing fleas.

The vets have cornered the market with expensive flea products and even scam you by asking you to bring your cat in for inspection before giving you the products! I use fourfleas about £7 as opposed to what the vet recommends at £35 plus £30 for a visit. I have found it to be great ,and my cat is very happy with it.

the only real remedy is a flea collar. i had awful trouble with my cats and fleas and the kittens were so small i hurt really bad to see fleas on them.
bathing the kittens with flea shampoo and using flea collars on the older ones worked out best and u will never worry about fleaing them again
best of luck

How about a flea collar. Your cat just wears a collar all the time so you get all time protection. Just get a new one every few months or so. Simple.
