Yes you do need to pay to get into Aintree to see the Grand National - very few racecourses will let you in for free, the one exception I can think of being Epsom opening up the Downs to the public on Derby Day.

Back to the point, Aintree is almost sold out for Grand National Day (Sat 14th April 2007) already. There seem to be some tickets left in the Tattersalls Enclosure and a few other areas. The link below will take you to their ticketing page for the Grand National Meeting:

In all honesty you will see far more watching the race on tv, but everyone should go to Aintree at least once for the atmosphere!

well unless you plan on climbing in over the gates then yes you need a ticket.

there might be an exception if you happen to be royalty.
