There are hundreds on the web the first was Alta Vista (still around). Yahoo! is the biggest and Google the most popular. Yahoo! is more of a portal now like Lycos and Excite. Until it was sold to Lycos HotBot (run by Wired) would find anything anywhere now it's a shadow of it's former self. There's also Northern Light, Dogpile, Ask, Go (originally called Infoseek) and more.

Is this a trivia question? The answer is search engine. I use Google, but I just found out that there are search engines that donate to charities each time their used so I need to find one of those and start using it instead.
