Quran 3:85 YUSUFALI: If anyone desires a religion other than Islam, never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter He will be in the ranks of those who have lost (All spiritual good). http://cwis.usc.edu/dept/msa/quran/003.q...

Ok, so a mother and father can never accept a son whose left Islam? Whew…wow, my mother still loves me, even though I left my religion. But in that culture, that’s exactly how it works out, isn’t it. Is this wrong, I mean, every fiber in our being knows it’s very wrong, be lets try to define this.

Why is it wrong? Could it be that we don’t think God is petty and vindictive and jealous and needs gimmicks to intimidate the sheeple from straying from the herd? What’s your opinion?

If this isnt intolerance at its very core, I dont know what is. Mind you, Im not even referring to the genocide jihad verses because the term "intolerance" is no subsitute for the concept of genocide.

If we're going to cut and paste then perhaps you should read the introduction to the Surah and you'd have your answer....

http://www.usc.edu/dept/MSA/quran/maududi/mau3.html

In these verses the people of the Book, the Jews, have been invited to give up their sinister ways and accept the divine Guidance. At the same time the Muslims have been warned to be on their guard against their malicious intentions, erroneous ways and absurd objections. verses 66 - 101

The time frame matters because this is what the Surah talks about:
This Surah consists of four discourses The first discourses :-

The first discourse (vv. 1-32) was probably revealed soon after the Battle of Badr.

The second discourse (vv. 33-63) was revealed in 9 A. H. on the occasion of the visit of the deputation from the Christians of Najran.

The third discourse (vv. 64-120) appears to have been revealed immediately after the first one.

The fourth discourse (vv. 121-200) was revealed after the Battle of Uhd.

THE HEIGHT OF INTOLERANCE IS IGNORANCE.

In the eyes of God, Islam is the final religion. It is the completion of all the messengers and prophets who were sent down before Prophet Muhammed (PBUH). It is the final word of God.
So why should anything else be accepted by God when He clearly said this was the final thing? Can anything be clearer than that????

As for my culture, what would you know about it??? Don't just generalize and paint a whole culture.
Try spending time with a muslim and living a while in our culture. THEN JUDGE!!!!!

Matthew 18:3
And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

Does that not exclude as well?

All faiths want their faithful to adhere to the rules of the doctrine to be saved. That is why they use their holy books. Whether you accept it or not is up to you.

Hi, I am a Jew. If you study your bible, the old testament, God treats non-beleivers very harshly (death). He has Jews destroy entire cities and slaughter thousands of women and children b/c they are not true beleivers. Isn't that just as harsh? The differnece is we are not fanatic about our religion. That is the difference, not the religion itself.
