Squiritng her with water will work. Everytime she goes near it, squirt her from a distance but don't allow her to see the bottle. She will start associating the tree with the mysterious flying water and learn to steer clear. You can also try lying tin foil under thr tree or tape lying face up, cats don't like either one. If you know anyone with a dog, rub some ornaments or garland on the dog. LOL Just kidding about the dog thing. Might work but kinda silly.

I think that there are two solutions to this problem, first there may be a cat toy or something of that nature near the tree, if that is the case then you can just move the toy. The other way to fix this problem is to buy a blue pine, it has a nice blue hue and is really spiky. Not enough to hurt the cat just enough to keep it from jumping again.

A bowl of fresh lemon peels at the base of the tree can deter curious kitties plus add a nice scent to your festivities.

If your kitty shows a penchant for this activity, decorate with animal-safe items such as dried flowers, pine cones or fabric and wood ornaments. You also might want to consider putting the tree in a room with doors that close.

Cranberry and popcorn strands can be deadly to pets, causing intestinal obstruction or getting wrapped around your pet's neck.

you're able to positioned it in a room with a door you are able to close so as that cats can no longer get at it. additionally in case you have a real TREE you're able to separate the cats from the tree. in the event that they drink the WATER in the backside of the tree, there are different chemical compounds that leach out of the tree, into the water that would reason liver and kidney failure in cats. CHRISTMAS timber AND PETS ARE a foul blend!

Put 2 pennies in an empty vitamin bottle (or any small plastic bottle, like aspirin, etc), screw the lid back on tight.
When that goofy cat starts eyeballin' the tree, WHIP the bottle at the cat (or for you crybaby peta people, NEXT to the cat)..Trust me, that cat will avoid that tree like the Shaker Bottle Plague!

Might have to do it twice, but usually once is enough.

I have 2 cats - one doesn't climb the tree, she likes to snuggle down in with the presents and "blend" - the other one thinks she's "Jungle Kitty", and actually seems to be proud of herself when we walk in a catch her in the tree - she looks at us like "wow, I'm up REALLY high this time, huh?" I just don't put anything on the tree that will break, and tinsel is a no-no - they like to chew on it, and it causes intenstinal obstuctions.

You might try spraying Boundry on the tree. It keeps most animals away from areas that you don't want them. You will need to reapply it every 2-3 days. I know that PetSmart carries it, I'm not sure if Petco does.

Try spraying the tree with either bitter apple or pepper spray. Both tastes are something that the cat will not like and it will not harm her. You can find the bitter apple at any pet store and you can find the pepper (animal repellent) in the pest section of any hardware store.
