i was looking between the santro and the alto. good affordable maintenace and mileage needed.

Santro is good, has a lot of leg space compared to alto, but I think alto gives more mileage. Its up to you to decide. I think the person who owns these cars will be a better judge.

Mileage, Best in class-Alto
Maintainence, Cheap to maintain- Alto
Resale, Alto-Maruti Brand....
Driving Comfort, - Santro
Passenger Space Santro
Boot Space Santro
Performance Cant compare one is 1100cc and other is 800cc
Service Network-Spares Alto
So think about the parameters which are most suited to you and judge the car u can buy. But at this price i will say go for Alto Lxi, its stylish, easy to drive and maintain and resale value is much higher than Santro. Also paint work on Alto is superior in long run than Santro.

If affordable maintenance and Mileage are your prime concerns, then look no further than the Alto. But dont expect smooth rides and a lot of driving pleasure.
The Santro will give you a lot more driving pleasure but Hyundai spares are comparitively more expensive so your cost of ownership will be higher. If you need space you can squeeze in the New Indica Xeta GLS at about Rs. 3.1 Lkhs on-road. The 1.2Lit engine has more power than all other vehicles in this class. If you can extend your budget a little, the best all round vehicle is the Fiat Palio, which is now available at Rs.85K discount from its original Rs.4.5L price. Safe, spacious and very sturdy, and very smooth. A lot classier than all other cars in this class. Tata servicing has made maintenance cheaper.

Alto will be the best option in all respect. Further i would suggest you to go for Maruti 800 because both 800 and alto have same engine specification only the alto has been tuned for little more pickup and power steering and needless to mention that its only 25 mm bigger in width than 800 and that makes it 100kg more bulky than 800 resulting in decrease in milage. Santro on the other hand is a good car but then again is not as fuel efficient as a maruti.

Just go to the dealer and have a look at Indica Xeta.
1400 cc,70 ps power, highway=16 kmpl, most spacious,
most powerful small car with nice metallic colours and spacious then any other small car.
Just visit and see it u will automatically like it, i ensure u,
nothing else to say dear. I also bought it.
Best thing tata stands for its name and my friends indica,he has not done service for 2 years(petrol) and then also no problems.
