I am assuming that you are referring to Barrabus, who was released instead of Jesus. Simple answer. He was NOT a killer of Romans. In the revolt that he lead, Barrabus attacked and killed several villages of JEWS, not Romans. This is why Pilate expected the Jewish people to ask for Jesus to be freed rather then Barrabus.

Pontius Pilate didn't want to be responsible for the death of Jesus. But the Jews were insistent that it be done. Seems like the Romans would have more control over them if they were the ones in command at that time. Jesus was not a threat to the Romans. Barabbas was not a killer of Romans. If he was, he would have been executed rather than simply imprisoned.

This will probably make some people on here angry, but from pressure from the Jewish leaders and the blood thirsty mob. They thought he was the devil incarnate, not the son of God.Some thought he was nothing but a mere witch performing black magic.
He was supposed to die.
It was supposed to be just a regular everyday execution.
It went right the opposite. His death and resurrection changed everything, especially from a Jewish point of view.
I ask the question, what would make his apostle's make a complete 180,when they lived in fear of their own lives? It had to have been for something really huge and glorious.
He was supposed to die,and everything would go back to normal, but it didn't.Everything and everyone was affected by the news of his resurrection.Over 500 people saw him and spoke with him.
Peace be unto you.

There was a Holy Festival underway. As a positive "publicity stunt", the governor could honor the Holy Festival by granting a full pardon to a prisoner sentanced to death.
PP was probably trying to find a loophole to release Jesus. He offered them (the assembled Jews) the choice of prisoners: Jesus Christ, who had already suffered IMMENSLY, who was a prophet and a righteous man, OR, Barrabas, known as a bad-@$$ terrorist, thug, and murderer. PP underestimated the hatred that the chief priests had for Jesus; his legal manuverings backfired. The crowd, stirred up by the priests, chose the "patriot" over the prophet.

Pontius is a symbolic figure which represents both, government, and the Justice system. The Justice system often victomizes the victim (especially if the vitim is female), and lets the murderer, rapist, child molester, etc, etc. . . go free. When Jesus arrived, the Justice system was "rotten to the core", Lawyers were nothing more than hired mercenarys, who have no integrity, and go to the highest bidder. A good example is the book, " If I done it, this is the way I would have done it book.

Pontius Pilate was as much to fault for the death of Jesus as those who were swayed to choose Barabbas
