Get him a good bottle of liquor and a set of tumblers. Every guy needs something good to serve alcohol in.

If he'll be entertaining a bit, try helping him to stock a wine cellar/rack by purchasing a few bottles of wine. There are a ton of nice wines under $10 a bottle so you can set your own budget on how much to spend.

Just because he CAN buy things himself doesn't mean you shouldn't buy him a gift!! I like the liquor and tumblers idea, perhaps some games or something when there are groups over, since he is a guy maybe some candles or other things that he wouldn't purchase on his own would be nice.

If you catch wind of him needing to paint a room or do a big project, you could offer to help in the form of a "Certificate of My Time" sort of thing. Bake him the most fabulous cake you've ever made. Donate some cash to an organization in his new neighborhood on behalf of your nephew. Or offer to take him out to a restaurant for dinner his in new area.

Use some thought. How about getting a big box and inside putting a small trowl and fork set as well as some vegetable seeds (carrots, lettuce, leeks etc) And maybe a book on growing food. He'll love the fact you thought about it, And trust me he'll love to show of his veg to guests and it's healthy.

If he's an avid entertainer - something along the lines of a nice set of martini glasses, a shaker, etc etc. Just a thought!

How about a nice bottle of wine. Or maybe his favorite liquor. That way he has it to entertain.

---maybe for a "gift" you could offer to help him paint, decorate, unpack, or whatever....THAT is always appreciated
-My favorite---a case of beer and a pizza, because who has time to go out and get that stuff when you need to unpack?
-GIft card to a home improvement store
-a "how to book" that explains how to make various home improvements or how to make repairs around the home

A plaque to go on his wall. Something that will make a statement about the type of person he is.
