Why do people make such a big deal out of the nativity story. It is controversial. If people who don't want to see it then they don't have to pay the money and are not being forced to see it? It is like anything Christian is a controversy. Yet we promote films with gays, violence, and nudity saying it is ok in our society. I don't understand it. It is like the worlds views are backwards. It is like if you don't want to see the movie then don't pay to go see it. People are like we don't want to offend anyone? Am I the only one who feels like this?

The world has become narrower and narrower, it seems. People are far too easily offended--and I feel as though most of these people are not actually offended, but simply trying to stamp out expressions of things they don't personally like.

When you look at cartoons from 10-20 years ago, and cartoons today, you'll find that despite claims that children's television is "becoming too violent," older cartoons had as much, if not more violence. So what's changed? People have become hypersensitive, I guess.

Displays of Christianity are not attacks on non-Christians, much like displays of homosexuality are not attacks on straight people, and displays of national pride are not attacks on other nations. People need to loosen up and get used to the fact that everyone is different, and they're not all going to keep their differences locked up behind closed doors.

Anything promoted in the public market is fine. What is controversial is putting a religious symbol on public land in a country where the constitution states that the government shall not promote religion. Put the nativity scene on your church property. No one will stop you and no one will protest. Just don't use my tax dollars to promote your religion.

Any issue is open to controversy; this is a good thing. Most filmmakers are in it for the profit, evil sells. If society would like to see this change, they would spend their money cautiously.

Peace :)

I don't think there's anything wrong with gays, or even violence and nudity, if that tells the story.

But I don't think there's anything wrong with the Nativity Story, either.

No one is stoppingyou from having a nativity on your property, no one is stopping any church or private business from having one. What's the problem?
