Sure, in fifth grade we were all somewhat chubby. But now in seventh grade I feel really huge! My classmates all lost their extra weight and all of them look great except for a few boys whose trademark is their obesity. Anyway, I hate my flabby gut and I really want to lose it! I'm about 5'3 (yes, short, I know). What should my weight be? I know I'm a bit overweight and I want to lose as much as possible by, I don't know... Christmas? Easter? Anything! Any advice will be appreciated!!

Under 120. You should try working out about 30 minutes a day, and increase the workout as you feel comfortable. Bicycling, dancing, basketball, and walking are all great ways to get in shape. Try watching your calorie intake, stay away from foods such as sweets, chips, fatty cheeses, soda, and drink water as much as possible. Drinking about 70-100 ounces of water a day will give your metabolism a good boost. Also, jumping jacks are a good workout- 17 of them burns one gram of fat, so you can calculate how many you need to do each day based on what you eat.

First, people develop differently, so your friends may have lost some of the 'puppy fat' and you haven't yet but you will. Changing your diet is a good idea, but don't actually go on a 'diet'. Instead, just cut out some junk food, stay away from candies, and the worst culrpit? Soda.
Soda, a Coke or Pepis, Root Beer, etc, has 150 Plus calories with ZERO nutrition. An entire ham and cheese sandwich with all the fixings has less calories than one soda. If you can drink diet sodas then that is better, or drinking water is an even better choice and is great for your skin too.
I included a link to two articles - one is how to lose weight without dieting and the other one is about obesity in America. If you have the time to check them out, maybe they can help you.
Also, exercise and be active. You don't have to kill yourself to be thin, and everyone is built differently, but if you eat good and stay active, you will look and feel better. Good luck!

Just get active and work on eating healthier. Stop eating when you feel full; you may have to eat a little more slowly to figure out when this happens.
Get out and have fun. Limit your computer and gaming and tv time every day. Ride your bike or walk to go short distances instead of getting a ride or hopping on the bus.
Limit the fast food, sugar and greasy stuff. Drink a glass of water before you decide if you really want that soda.
These are simple steps that work without cramping your style or making you feel like you are on a diet. You're too young to diet; now is the time to work on healthy habits that will keep you trim and strong throughout your whole life, so that maybe you'll not ever have to diet.
Good luck to you.

BE Yourself, you're young so enjoy being young while it lasts, and DO NOT concern yourself with the insane Barby Doll image, and above all realize how much your family and true friends love you, thus only pathetic self-hating losers would dare spew out negative remarks regarding any persons natural appearance regardless of age...
