Help I am really shy in real life. How can I meet guys?

Question

I love chatting online and people tell me I am really smart and funny. I am overweight by about three stone but I am told I am pretty with a nice personality.Because of my weight I tend to look frumpy and so I dont get a lot of male attention. One said I dress like his mother.
I only open up when I get to know people for some time, but by then guys lose interest.Please help I am really lonely and really want a boyfriend to share my life with

OMG- You're ME! I am the same way. I good with people, but I'm not good WITH people, if that makes sense. I know I'm sweet, nice, generous and lots of other positive things. I tend to put myself down before others get a chance to, but my self esteem is improving. I have a BF who adores me and I'm making a serious effort keep our flame going. I'd say you should go into a clothibg store and just try on several different outfits just to see how cute you can be in differnt clothes. Do your hair a different way and try to be social with people. I know it's easier said than done because I'm like a brick wall around people I dont know. It take a LOT for me to get comfy with new people, and my "open" is still not considered open to others. My BF said I need to let loose and communicate more and just be relaxed. Maybe you overthink things, like me- always wondering what everyone else thinks... just let go and stop worrying. A BF will come sooner o later, dont settle for just anyone, make sure he's worthy of you. Good luck! By the way, I am a 21 y.o. plus sized girl & I think I look great. Just dress to flatter your body type and have confidence.

you don't have to be skinny to be sexy and interesting (this comes from a person who was ashamed to be too thin). I've learned that you can get a boyfriend even if you are a bit fat or a bit skinny. of course your appearance matters, but it's not crucial! try to put in value a part of your body that you really like (if you are overweight, I suppose you have big boobs :P) and try to dress... less like a mother.
btw, love hits you when you least expect it. I know it's a cliche but it's true

Firstly, hello, 35 male here, just for reference. a lot of men like big women, but you need to be more confident, dress young n sexy(avoid wearing too much black) and let loose your personality. Also try and train your mind to turn negative comments into positive ones. if ya want another friend then add my nick to your messenger.

Stick with it, its not all about looks if we're all honest. We do need to get along with the person too!

Try joining a dating agency, meeting people on-line, talking for a while and getting to know them. Be honest about yourself.

Save up and get some new clothes, try to get advice on what suits your shape, not what you like, you may find a good balance.
