Koh Phi Phi is still in the early stages of rebuilding. American outfitter Big Five Adventure Travel is offering day trips to explore the island's 360 foot limestone cliffs by boat.

Close to Bangkok? No, it's flat as a pancake there. Bangkok basically lies in a flood plain.

In Pattaya there is a hill but, it is only a small hill maybe a couple hundred feet tall and I doubt it is worth scaling, if that is what you were thinking. Pattaya is about 2 hours away by car or bus.

Actually, if you go another 90 minutes to Rayong there maybe more hillier area. If you go to the map below, you will see that the whole area around Bangkok is fairly flat.

If you went up to Chiang Mai in the north you might find cliffs to climb.
