before you go to bed, smear on a whole bunch of vaseline. it will absorb into your lips more than if you put it on during the day. you won't lick it off and it will all stay on your lips. oh also put some vaseline on before you take a reeeeally hot shower. the steam will cause the vaseline to absorb into your lips faster.

I use Carmex or Blistex when I get chapped lips. Put some on before you go to sleep every night so that it will soak in, as well as putting some on during the day. If this does not work, go to see your doctor to see if there is a more serious problem.

Cocoa butter and shea butter, both found in health food stores, work really really well. Petroleum jelly (vaseline) is great for a quick fix but don't overuse it or it will work adversely and make your lips even drier. Also, don't overuse products like Carmex -- they too will dry out your lips -- your lips get 'addicted' to them.

If you react to lip balms as I have been known to do, you might still have to look. I've been known to change my lip balm every 8 months because I develop reactions. One of my most severe reactions actually was to Vaseline
