I am hanging a swing from a tree. The rope is already on the tree and I want to attach a wooden seat to it. There are two holes in the seat ready for me to tie off the rope. The only question is what knot would hold the best and is easy to do?

you might try a figure 8 knot, or a stopper knot.

Either use the stopper knot as already suggested or tie the rope into a loop with a knot beneath the seat. Any sort of solid bend will work for this. The best one that I can think of right now is the double bowline bend, but I don't know an online source to find it on. If you know the bowline then it should be easy. make the little loop you start out with normally in one end, then tie the knot using the loose end of the other rope. do this for the other side, then maybe secure the loose ends just to be safe. You shouldn't have any loops when you are done.
