I thought it would be funny to put some shrimp in her salad to see her all get grossed out or whatever because it's cute. She ended up swallowing a couple and had to go to the emergency room. Well anyways, we broke up and now she wants me to pay the medical bills, even taking me to court. I'm like whatever about it and don't return her phone calls. I thought it was funny because I didn't mean anything bad by it.

You should pay her bills.
1.) You knew she was allergic to Shrimp and done it with intent.
2.) Could have killed her.
I think she should have you arrested and charged with assult. Would also say for being stupid, but being stupid is not against the law. If I was her Dad you would pay one way or another.
It was a bad idea from an asshole.
Use to be a time in this country you would have been taught that was wrong without having to ask if it was wrong. She should file charges, have you arrested and seek jail time in addition to paying her medical expenses. If you refuse to pay, I hope you use the money to go get fixed so you don't reproduce and contaminate the rest of the population.
Just think, if you don't show up for court, she wins by default. PAY NOW, YOU CAUSED IT! I would still file charges though.

RU NUTS?? being allergic to something is anything but funny and sticking shrimp in a salad? plain stupid that could of killed her very easily u should pay bills and be glad she is still alive you almost murder pay the bills and u should have stopped her when u say she was about to EAT it i would have sued u and pressed charges and i am not surprised she broke up with u an allergy is a serious thing so pay the bills it is the least thing u can do for almost killing her. DUH!

I understand that you thought it would be funny and it probably would have been if she wasn't that allergic to Shrimp. But you should have stopped her when you noticed she was going to take a couple of bites. You knew she was allergic so if she did take you to court she would win. I would just pay the medical bills and leave it at that.

HORRIBLE IDEA! I'm also allergic to shrimp. highly. if i eat something that was touched or cooked with any type of shellfish my throat closes. people like me tell the people we know that we have food allergies so we wont get rushed to the hospital. you should pay her bills because u could have killed her. then this "joke" would be a crime called murder. so be grateful that shes alive and just suing u. next time think before u do that.

even if you thought it was funny, did you think for a second about the consequences. You knew that she was allergic to shrimp, therefore you knew she could have died for anaphylatic shock. You should pay the medical bills. After all, it is your fault. At worst, the could charge you with attempted murder.

That is NOT funny and the fact that you take it so lightly is disgusting!! I can't believe it got to the point that she had to go to the ER and you are not one bit concerned about that!
A JOKE??? Are you a sick person?? That is not funny at all, and you let her eat them?? She trusted you with HER VERY LIFE and you tried to take it by doing this, and you were aware of her allergy. If I were her, I'd sue you with trying to kill. That's pretty much attempted murder in my book because allergies like that kill every day.

If not, you're quite the a**hole. There's not one damn thing "cute" about anaphylactic shock. You're lucky she only sued you (a case that you will lose, BTW) - had it been me, I would have come after your knees with a lead pipe, too!
Oh, and by the way - I think you'd better get used to referring to her as your EX-girlfriend.
And if you ever want to get another girlfriend again, I wouldn't continue to repeat this story in some kind of pathetic bid to gain sympathy. Very, very few people you encounter will ever take your side.

But allergies are a very serious matter. You NEVER joke around with something that can kill a person.
My brother has a bee allergy and i saw what happened when he got stung. He nearly died, as his throat swelled up and nearly closed off.
To do this intentially, after you knew she had an allergy, is just plain cruel.

That was a VERY bad idea, Many food allergies can be FATAL. You should pay her bills and thank your lucky stars your not in prison for murder. She could have died and then you would be wishing you could take it all back.As is you are VERY lucky. Pay Up & Grow Up.
