Umm, no offense to the previous answers, but where do you think the feed stores get them? ONLINE!!!!!!!!! There is no problem shipping birds, both farm stores and small farms order them. I've never had any problems. USPS will deliver but they hold the birds at the Post Office and you must pick them up. You CANNOT buy a full-size hen, only chicks, and that's seasonal in spring. I like McMurray hatchery, google them.

I wouldn't suggest doing that, anyways. You will have no guarantee on the health of the hen, or even if it makes the travel to you, alive. Too much can go wrong, with ordering animals online. Contact a local feedstore, they will have chicks. Or just put a posting up on Craigslist.org, if you are wanting an adult hen. Someone might have one to re-home.

Tractor furnish Co many times has some chicks on the marketplace around spring, and all 12 months around, if there is one, a cattle public sale in case you in basic terms desire older birds, ideally as pets...i do no longer desire to be rude, yet your spelling the two shows a loss of intelligence, or sleep, or the two. I heartily recommend you to no longer purchase chickens until you have an interest in preserving and looking out after cattle.

You don't want one of those prepackaged, online sweatshop hens. You want a fresh, free-range bird. Go to a local henhouse and pick one out. You will be glad you did.
