how to give color concept to a child?

how can i give the concept of diferent colours to a child? viz the concept of red ,green, yellow.i am taching a group of 2.5yrs.

when you're reading to them. point out colors and shapes. that will help them a lot. but make sure that not all the, say, triangles are, say, yellow. or else they will start associating triangles with yellow and visa versa
