humm well I read a lot of answers reference my two questions having to do with illegal aliens. And some answers I agree with. Others I don't. However,it must be remembered that we here in the United States live on stolen land. I mean you all sit there mortgaged to the hilt (or with paid off mortgages) complaining about taxes for this and taxes for that..anytime something comes up about medicaire or welfare you're shooting off at the mouth while CORPORATE welfare goes through the roof!
The reality is that you are paying taxes on houses and land that technically even though you BOUGHT IT, you have LEASED! Because you don't OWN anything.
So you see you aren't any better than the aliens whom you hold in such low esteem. The only difference between Columbus' stumbling upon the islands, the Europeans onslaught of murdering thieves, and the occupation and killing of Native Americans here on THEIR land,is that the illegals haven't come here and slaughtered us, as we did to those before us

Well. not really. I was born here. I haven't stolen land from anyone. I live on a farm that my family has owned (or maybe I should say we own the rights to it, we have a deed that says so, no one else can claim it, so I consider that owning it) all of my life and all of my father's life. I don't know how my grandparents obtained that land but I assume they bought it from someone and didn't steal it. The owners before that were given that land as a gift. They didn't steal it either. I don't know where the owners before that got the land, but even if they did steal it from someone that had nothing to do with me. I stole nothing and am a legal, natural born citizen of the United States. So, to say that I am "no better" that an illegal alien, which I take to mean you think I have no more right to be here than they do, is pure crap!

As for complaining about taxes, I personally do not own property so those are not the taxes I talk about when I do talk about taxes. I talk about the taxes taken out of my paycheck every time I get one. The government takes almost half of the money I earn per month, and I am a single woman trying to support myself and barely getting by. However, I pay them none the less. And my nephew, for whom I work, has to match those taxes and take money away from his new business to pay them so we can do everything legally and "by the book" while there are others out there who hire illegal aliens and pay them "under the table". They pay no taxes on these employees and the employees pay no taxes. I realize that illegals are not the only ones doing this, but that is the problem I have with them. If they want to pay taxes like I do then I have no problem with them living and working here.

I would have to agree with Kevin on this. I was born American.

Go back through the history books, and find out about all of the wars that have been fought and land that has been taken from others through the centuries, time and time again... Alexander the great, the Mongols, France/Normandy and England ... The Crusades over the Holy Land... and the list goes on and on.

The native americans did not own this land. But, they sold it to the explorers and then wanted it back. Then the government made treaties with them, some of which were not upheld, which is unfortunate, but again, not my fault. The government is still trying to make up for this now and we, as a result, have over 150 years (in MN...more in other places), generation after generation of welfare recipients who don't know how to work.

As a matter of fact, my ancestors on one side came through a port south of Milwaukee after coming on a ship across the ocean, a boat of some sort up the Great Lakes and settled, after going through immigration, in southern Minnesota in 1851. They homesteaded their first land, but when they moved (by covered wagon... 250 miles north... walking most of the way), they bought all of their land from the railroad, and worked their butts off to put up a house (twice) by hand, donate some of their land for a church and cemetery, cultivate the land with oxen, and all before the snow flew.

They did not get or ask for handouts. I am an American. I have paid for everything that I have.

They worked hard for all that they had, as has every generation of our family since then. We are not wealthy. We are all working class folks who just do the best that we can.

I didn't inherit my land. I bought it. I do pay taxes, but they go (at least some) to the school district, and children's education is a wise investment. We reap what we sow and if we don't invest into our children, we will have a very dim, as well as illiterate future.

>SIGH< Here we go again. I suppose the difference would be the same as the difference between someone pick-pocketing you and someone putting a gun in your face and robbing you.

When "we" Caucasians took this land it was by force. Pretty much the entire world was developed this way. A new growing nation forced out a weaker smaller culture and claimed the land. Some times with wars, sometimes with peace treaties.

Now, the "illegal population" would be the pick-pocketers. Sneaking into an already established country and empire non-aggressively for the chance to pick up some scraps from the American people. Not to take over the State or Country.

And when we came, and took this land, it was not illegal because there was no law or established order.

If your last name isnt Quezlkoakzltltzl or equivalent, then you're the descendant of an immigrant. The spaniards colonized Florida and then ultimately the mexican territories, whereas the other europeans, dutch, british, french and german and so forth colonized what is now the United States. At one point, Russia laid claim to what is now Alaska, which the US then bought from them. The british and french colonized what is now Canada, along with the French. That's the history.

TODAY, as in 2006, 21st century, electric light, running water, internet, the whole trip, today, there's borders that need to be enforced, and laws that need to be updated and also enforced
in order to deal with the simple fact that that was then, this is now. NOW now, as in 'now', as in 'live in the now' etc.

During the 1600's, there was maybe 1/2 billion people in the ENTIRE world. Maybe. Maybe less than that. On through the 1700's, the 1800's, and finally, the beginning of the 20th century saw the world census at over a billion. TODAY, back to 'now', there are some 6.6 billion, that's billion with a 'b', people in the world. The USA alone has over 300 million, while Mexico has over 110 million, well, maybe 106, there's a LOT of people moving to 'el norte' in a big hurry, and that's what a lot of this debate is about, a lot of people trying desperately to install themselves in our country for economic reasons. And, they'll tell any lie, commit just about any crime, to do that, including disregarding immigration laws.
Point is, the world has become a MUCH more crowded place, and it's happened so rapidly that half the country is still playing catch-up, and some people have utterly NO clue.

Let's do an illustration: Say your town/city/ whatever has enough water to support 60,000 people. K. There's a margin of error there, and no one uses exactly the same amount of water every day. Some people water their lawns, some people live in apartments, some people take a shower, others take a bath, laundry and so forth. Mean average water usage is calculated to provide for 60,000 though. Sewer system will take more, but that's to allow for rain. So NOW, you add 20,000 people to the equation. Nobody knows they're out there, but it just seems like they're losing water...and they keep losing water, no matter how many times they check the pipes etc. Then, one day, it finally dawns on em that 'hey, there's a BUNCH of people that've been 'staying over at a friends house' for like, 5 years, now'....
and you have a water shortage. So, the city tries to provide more water. Oh, then there's brownouts because the utility can't support 80,000 people, either. There's an imbalance. It's kind of like 'if you fail to plan, you plan to fail', and that's one aspect of all of this. We're expected to provide all the infrastructure demanded by people that've got no lawful right to be in the country to begin with. That puts a burden on EVERYbody.

This is just one example. People need to find other hobbies besides having more kids than they can support, and trying to move to the United States. I mean, if you really hate america etc., keep it up, but maybe, just maybe, there's a Better Way to help Mexico and other countries get their butts out of the ditch, and on the way to self-sufficiency. I hope so...you can learn more about all of this at 'school', be sure to take some classes on demographics etc...

oh gosh not this again... here's the deal.. I am not an illegal by any means and neither were my ancestors- you have to have a country for you to be an illegal immigrant.. there was no country here before the Pilgrims landed... they built this country.. granted yes it is sad at what happened to the Native Americans, the Slaves, the Witches of Salem, and every other horrible thing we have done in the past.. regardless of anything.. if they had not landed on Plymouth Rock..you wouldn't even be here today.. you wouldn't have this country... so No at no time were me and my family ever illegal... I am an American Citizen, I love my Country, I appreciate my country.. I am an American Citizen above all else... I know my history, I know what we did, and we learned from that sort of... so NO NO NO- We are a country now.. we have safety and security issues and we need to make sure that people coming into this country are here legally or are sent home....thank you have a nice day

Stolen land? I think you mean land won in war and righfully owned by Europens. Nice try though. Believe me, Europeans were not the first people to wage war to win land.
There is plenty of evidence to back up a theory that white Europeans were actually in America before "Indians." Who did they wage war with to live here?
As it is the case in all Western countries, each individual must be able to pay a certain amount of taxes to cover his use of public services. Families with income below the poverty line pay very little taxes. In addition to these very low tax contributions, the poor are the main beneficiaries of welfare programs such as Temporary Assistance to Needy Families, Supplemental Security Income, Food Stamps and subsidized housing. So if immigration further increases the size of the poor population, it is likely that there will be a negative effects on the public system.
Sorry you're not capable of reading and understanding facts. Spanish culture is a product of spain, and native Americans migrated here from Asia. We can leave the land empty?? Will that make you pro illegals happy?

The Native Americans did not own this land before us and we never stole it from them. The way you establish international ownership is by possession. Virtually every country has fought a war and drove other people out, that's nothing new.

So when people complain about illegal immigrants flooding into their country, they have a right to be mad. The US can not absorb millions upon millions of immigrants a year. It would not only hurt the economy but deteriorate living conditions.

Most people respect legal immigrants who come here to build their future and provide for their families It's the illegal ones that ruin the country.

You know, we keep hearing about this "corporate welfare," but nobody ever gives any examples.

Can you name one thing that qualifies as corporate welfare?

As for property tax on homes, I've often felt that myself. How can I own my own home, if I have to pay the government for that "ownership" every year. If I don't pay them their fee, they will take my home away. Sounds like the gov't is at least part owner in my home.

At some point, you have to stop feeling guilty for what happened hundreds of years ago. Neither myself, my parents, my grand parents, or my great-grandparents kicked people off of their lands, committed genocide or owned slaves. It is what it is, and I owe no reparations to any group of people for what my long dead ancestors may have done to them. It's called White Guilt. Get over it.

what you are saying is true but i have to say that everybody in this country legally is an american and what i mean by legally is if you were born here or have immigrated here and have obtained citizenship. you do have to keep that in mind everybody here is an american. we have been slaughtered by the immigrants in the past yes and we have had our land taken too but here in the past years we have had reservations to stay on that was given back to us and we have several benefits now that some of us, like me for example, dont hold a grudge i dont mind now granted some do hold a grudge and think that all of you should go back to england but not all of us. but i do have to agree with everybody that is against illegals because several people were born here yes but some people had to fight to obtain citizenship while others try to get over here the easy but illegal way. that is why some people are against illegals.

No, we are not all illegals. Most of us are from families that came here under the rules that were in existence at the time they came here. Our ancestors bought property from whoever owned it at the time they bought it. They did NOT take it from the Indians. Our government did not neccesarily deal with the Indians fairly, but I do not know anyone who had anything to do with that process. I don't quite follow your point about not owning anything. I do own my house and the fact that I borrowed money to buy it does not change anything.
