The most common cause for cold sores in the lip is a strain of the Herpes virus. There are two types type 1 and type 2. There are a few products available on the market today, like Abreva which help speed the healing process. If he is always breaking out with them try that product at the first sign of a cold sore. I think I heard it starts with a tingle. Good luck

It's a virus, sad to say, so it won't be going away the rest of his life. You can get it by having direct contact from it, or through blood from one, and children under the age of 3 will contract it if kissed on the lips by one who has the virus, whether it's infected or not.

When one has a fever the body finds ways of trying to get rid of it. The body will get canker sores, cold sores, pimples, and other things. Just treat it with cold sore lip cream. That's about all you can do. And don't pick at it.

Cold sores are caused by a virus, Herpes simplex I (as opposed to genital herpes, caused by Herpes simplex II). There's really nothing that will cure the virus at present; most people simply have to deal with the symptoms. One of the few things I've found that seems to speed up healing is to put ice on the spot for as long as you can stand. This works especially well if you get sores that are in the mouth; it doesn't cure them, but it does seem to trigger some sort of response that starts the area healing.

Herpes is the cause of cold sores. It's easy to catch so be careful. BTW HPV causes warts not cold sores

I belive it is a form of the herpes symplex of viruses that is different from the genital type. It can be contracted easily from interaction from the environment, like touching a door knob then your mouth. Stress can ussually cause it to present. I belive the Human papaloma virus as stated in the previous answer it the cause of genital warts. Hope this helps!

And to quail any fears, no. your husband probably did not catch the herpes symplex 1 from any sexual interaction. ;) So dont kill him!!!

Human papilloma virus is the cause. Once you get it, it is in your body waiting till you get sick so it can break out on lips.
