I'm only 15, and when I come home from school, I'm too tired to workout. If I lay down I won't get back up. I was wondering if I could take anything that will give me a boost of energy that won't have any negative long-term effects?

Believe it or not, the best source of energy is exercise. It's hard to get started but stay with it. You'll have lots of energy.

Our body's energy levels are directly related to the amount of certain nutrients active in our body. A marginal deficiency of any nutrient can lead to feelings of fatigue. Lack of sleep, stress, infection and disease can also lead to a lack of energy. Diets that restrict calories also increase the risk of fatigue. If you lack energy the first thing you should do is make sure you are getting 100% RDA of Vitamins and Minerals. If this cannot be accomplished by diet than a Multivitamin/Mineral Formula should be taken. Many B Vitamins are essential for converting food to energy. Magnesium is also necessary as it helps convert carbs, proteins and fats into energy as do many Amino Acids. Also, maintain proper fluid levels in the body as even mild dehydration can result in fatigue. Reducing sugar and caffeine and increasing sleep will also promote more energy.

You should also have your iron level checked to make sure you are not anemic, which would also lower your energy levels. This can be reversed by takin iron supplements.

I'm 17 and I will exercise in the morning. Like walk a mile on my treadmill or do a workout DVD. It keeps me so energized for the rest of the day. It's great.

You could take a power nap. Only lay down for about 20 minutes and see if that helps. Other then that I would say caffeine.
