well there are several ways it just depends on how you wanna do it. If you wanna just be blunt and honest just tell him hey dude i'm not into you anymore. If you wanna be nice and still have a friendship a white lie won't hurt. Like tell him your going thru somethings or that your just not looking for a guy right now. If you wanna be low down and just over with it just don't talk to him, ignore him he'll get the point

By putting yourself first. You absolutely have to tell him before the situation becomes very stressful and you may end up hurting him more than you think you will WHEN you tell him. In private, explain to him that you do not think you can committ to the relationship anymore... youre telling him out of respect and love for him. He´ll ask you why - tell him you dont have an answer but the important thing is you being honest with him. It may not go as smoothly as you would hope, but he´ll get over it. Absolutely do not string him along anymore before it may get ugly. GOOD LUCK!

You be very honest and upfront with him. Being on both ends of this before, I have found it is best not to drag it out. Just say something like "I like you, but your not want I am looking for in a relationship" or..."I don't feel the spark that is necessary at the beginning of any relationship and feel for both our sake that we not drag this out".

Think about how you'd like someone to let you down gently. Adjust it to him and then really mean it when you say you want to be 'just friends' or don't add that to the mix.
