I'm a 23 year old female. I recently had my wisdom teeth out so my immune system might be down.

You don't have asthma do you? It might be anxiety related. Anxiety can cause shortness of breath, tightness in your chest, a feeling of not getting enough air, ect ect. If this might be it try breathing in and out slowly...you can even use a small paper bag. My friend has anxiety attacks and says it helps her. Good luck!

I started having heartburn in the beginning of this week. I also had a panic attack which made it worst because I couldn't figure out why I was having chest tightness. Whenever I eat I will start having shortness of breath and the feeling of food stuck in my throat. My best bet is for you to see a GI if you have been having heartburn for more than 2 days a weeks, in which I'm experiencing right now. You develop shortness of breath because your lungs are trying to push way any acid from getting into it. So yes heartburn /acid reflex/gerd can cause shortness of breath, chest tightness, and definetly panic if you have never experienced this. I hope you get better because it is aggravating.

Asthma, Heart Attack/Heart Disease, Pneumonia, Pleurisey...whatever the cause, you need to go to the doctor to find out. Heart Disease is the #1 killer of women, but our society has stereotyped heart attacks as something that happens to old men. Not true. It could be a simple fix with antibiotics, but it could be something much more serious. A female family friend just died of a massive heart attack, and she was only 44. Her symptoms were extreme fatigue and chest pains.

I would go to my family doctor, ASAP. Good luck!

Go to the doctor. It could be a heart condition (which if you have one and got your wisdom teeth out, you could have an infection.....and it's very dangerous). On the lighter side, it could be Pleurosy, which is a lung infection that will go away on it's own. See your doctor.
