That's easy -- DIET. All the exercise in the world won't get you to your fitness/strength goals if your diet is not in order. In addition, eating too much of the wrong types of foods will take you down a lot quicker than lack of exercise will. Finally, people have been able to make drastic improvements in their weight (losing 100+ pounds) and their blood pressure/cholesterol levels through diet alone. I'm not knocking exercise, but jogging guru Jim Fixx dropped dead at the ripe old age of 46 from a heart attack. All that aerobic exercise he did was no match for the damage done by his unbalanced diet. If you had to choose one over the other, eat right.

To exactly answer your question i have to admit to you that neither Eating so-so but getting a great daily workout nor eating healthy but hardly moving a muscle everyday is more important...... what is more important is a proper diet with a proper routine exercise so that it keeps your body mind and soul in perfect shape...

Diet. Most people don't like to excercise but they do eat healthy and lose weight. I have read up on it myself, and this is pretty much they said. You need diet first than excercise. Excerciseing and having a unhealthy diet won't work. Everyday your moving, so you are getting a little excercise.

I agree with pankaj above, i don't think either is better and a lack of either one is bad. if nothing else, having a good diet and at least being ACTIVE (walking everywhere, taking stairs instead of elevator, gardening, chores, etc) is better than nothing. but, i can't imagine a scenario where one was exclusive of the other (granted it can be hard for people with familes and busy lifestyles to make it to the gym, but there is always time to do something, even if just at home).

You simply can't have one without the other.
They are both interdependent to each other.
The most important thing is common sense. It's important to look at the body as if it were your car.
Then ask the question; What's more important, getting new tires to replace
them (as they are bald) or new brakes
because the old ones which are eating into my wheel rotors?
The answer?Both.

Actually, either one will work but doctors seem to recommend that both are the best. Here is an interesting discussion.

I think it's diet. I say that because you can work out all day long but if you're living on cheese burgers and fries, you won't lose as much.
