A lot of times people say "Big Boned" as a way of saying someone is a heavy. It is away of beating around the bush without coming right out and saying FAT. However there larger bone structures medically but I really do believe there is an amazing differnce.

evryone has different structures depending on genes. some have a small frame, medium frame, and large frame. It has nothing to do with weight. It has to do with bone stucture. Someone can be 400lbs and have a small frame (bone stucture) under all that fat. as well as a skinny 100lb person with a large frame. So yes I have seen many woman and men with large and small frames. I guess this is just something woman know more about.

It is NOT another word for fat....there are different bone structures....some being larger than others. You can be small boned and fat, but you can also be large boned without weight difficulties. It shouldn't be rocket science....but apparently so for many on here responding. Wow.

well there is 3 bone types small medium and large.There is people who are exactly the same size and there is a 20 to 30 weight difference.And you would never know just by looking at them.

the term "big boned" is acually very innaccurate. "big boned" people really have alot of muscle, not bone. There fat percentage is really low too. So they may LOOk fat, but theyre not, therye just muscular or "big boned" and yes, alot of people use it as an excuse for why theyre overweight.

It is not another word for "Fat" ....of course men would say that....no offense. Some people have smaller frames....some people have larger frames. Some women would look really grose at 120pds and others would look just perfect...It's all in the bone structure, genetics.

Big boned is a variant on pleasantly plump - or that old chestnut "it's not his/her fault, it's his/her glands".
Utter rowlocks - you are either slim, medium or fat.
I am overweight and I would not dare to blame it on "big bones!!"
