I think that youquestion of Why religion taints brains is an assumption. My question is that why do you think religion taints people? Is religion not meant to make you a better person?!

You can be religious and still apply yourself to the progression of science, you can still read philosophy, be involved in politics, or study and accept the way other people around the world think, or what they believe in. So I think that the 'Golden age of thought' will happen, regardless of religion.

That has already been tried. Look at the history of the bloodthirsty French Revolution who outlawed God in their New Society. Look at Marxism and the failed experiement that was Communism.

Have to disagree. Its in human nature to fight that which is most different from ourselves. Take religion out of the equation and that aggression would simply be redirected to another subject be it politics, race, gender, education, poverty or whatever.

Don't listen to the others....I tend to agree with you. Religion holds people back from seeking real answers thorugh logical means. I know there are a lot of moronic bible thumpers out there but it amazes me how many intelligent people are still influenced by this ancient brainwashing.
