triamedic tongue strips, tell him it's candy, and if he spits it out then I would have him lay on his back and give him the medicine, and tell him to drink out of his sippy cup immediatly after taking the medicine. I do that to my 2 yr old and my 4 yr old niece

Try mixing it with something, our doctor told us as long as the eat the entire snack within about 15-20 minutes (not half not and half an hour later) it is just as effective and our pharmacist then said the same thing. We used things like applesauce, pudding, and yogurt. Find something like that your son likes and put it in it and I bet it will be fine. Make sure it's enough to drown the taste but not enough so he won't finish it. Works every time for us! Good Luck!

My daughter spits out the cold medicine, too, if I give it to her straight. Definitely try putting it in a juice drink or mixing it in with a cereal (like a hot cereal, like oatmeal, if he likes it) or maybe in apple sauce? Something that has that kind of consitency that he likes. My mom used to put stuff in apple sauce and bring us a slice of toast with it. It's still my favorite food when I'm sick!
Before you do any of this, however, take a deep breath. Envision your son taking his medicine without a hitch. Don't tell him you are giving him medicine when you are mixing it with food he likes.
Sometimes as parents, we get ourselves stressed about something like giving kids medicine, and they sense it so fast! Act like it's the most natural, fine thing in the world. No problem. He's going to get better very soon. He's even gonna like it! The more you fight him to take it, the more he's going to fight back, and if you get him to take it, he might resent that you used force.
I'm not saying to be unrealistic, but to stay calm and relaxed when you administer the stuff and while he's sick. It really helps me with my daughter! The first time my daughter ran a fever, I freaked out!!! So did the baby, who already wasn't feeling well. My husband, who usually doesn't want to get involved in this kind of thing, calmly took her from me and told me to go get the medicine, and that she would be alright. It took twice the time to get her to take the medicine, until I took a deep breath and calmed down! She was asleep within 30 minutes, and so was I!
Good luck, Supermom!!! I hope your baby feels better soon!

I have gone through this many a times! Try the new melt aways or dissolving strips. To me, that's the easiest way. Put the medicine in some juice hey maybe even soda. Try and disguise it anyway possible!

You could try changing brands of medicine. Each brand has a different taste and if you can find one he likes the taste of and let him give it to himself, he should be more willing to take it.
Both of my kids like the taste of Children's liquid Tylenol Cold and it's so easy to give them medicine when they need it.
Once, the doctor gave us the generic stuff and they hated the taste of it, so they started fighting it. It became a big issue until I realized it tasted different. When I switched back to the kind they liked, we didn't have anymore problems.
Good luck! I hope you find something that helps!

I get cherry flavored cold medicine and mix it in with her fruit juice, she doesn't have any idea. It's the only way I can get my daughter to take it. Good luck.

as unpleasant as this sounds...it can be done and is a viable way to get important meds into your son...it helps when children are pukey etc...tylenol can be given rectally. next diaper change if he will let you or when he is napping. DO NOT (obviously) use the same syringe you would reuse for orally)
doesn't sound pleasant but it is effective.

I think tylenol makes melt aways. They melt as soon as they are put in your childs mouth. I used to mix my sons meds in either strawberry or chocolate milk and put it in his sippy cup.
