Looking for some indicator organism which closely matches Staphyloccus aureus, and easy to enumerate

There are other Staphylococci which are non-pathogenic - those having a negative coagulase test for instance.

Being they are genus Staphyloccus, they will have many characteristics in common.

Staph epi. and staph sapro. are nonpathogens which can become pathogenic in certain situations. both are coagulative negative which determines if it is aureua or not. Then a Novabiocin test determines if a bug is Staph eip. or Staph sapro.
