on here. I have noticed that athiests post obscene or sarcastic answers or questions relating to the non-existence of God and make it their duty to insult Christians as worshiping a "super-hero like batman" when they praise God. Not all athiests but the ones who dwell in the religion category causing havoc. Where does this acute hatred come from? Why cant all religions and faiths work together to share knowledge and just overall be happy? Not just Athiests, but why do people insult others for not having the same belief as them?

From my personal point of view (I am a Christian), I think there are only some who insult God and Christians. Most of the atheists I've ever encountered are just fine with my being a Christian - since they don't believe in God, they don't think there is anything wrong with my believing as there will be no ultimate consequence for me.

Those that do insult God and Christians, I believe, do so because they are angry. Why they are angry is pretty diverse. Some are upset because they feel that their logic is not being given any credence and that their point of view is being discarded. Some are angry because they think that others are forcing their points of view on them. (This I don't understand because no one can tell me to change my point of view - they could try, but they could never force me to). Some, I think, are not true atheists, but are uncertain - more like agnostics - and are angry at 'god' for the ills of the world.

I am not athiest nor catholic or christain.
I am Wiccan
Religion bashing isnt our thing it is a negative source of energy

Athiests usually become this way because of a trauma in there life that causes them to have lost faith in any religion in any god/dess
Athiests are said to be very negative and depressing
But you have asked the wrong question
why are athiests more likly to insult christian and other religional faiths
They think by insulting a god/dess will get the job down for whatever made them go back on there religouse beliefs

God forrbid this but
Say a boy lost his mother due to cancer and he constinantly prayed and constinantly lite candles for his mother to get better
but she dies
That boy is most likely to become an athiest cause he believes that it was gods fault for not helping her or that there is no god because she didnt live

As i said before athiests do not know any better cause of a traumatic event that has lead up to there feeling with religion

AND....

Instead of calling an athiest out on there insulting others faith let it go...... its there choice. Thats how some people cope with there feelings.

And if you find one in need help them. dont be all "oh hes an athiest he isnt gonna want my help cause im a christian...
doesnt matter what they are all people are equal

why does this question have to be asked every day?

Where does this acute hatred come from?
constant bullying. eventually you get tired of it and strike back

Why cant all religions and faiths work together to share knowledge and just overall be happy?
because everyone thinks they are right and that there belief is the only one that is right. so they try to make other people feel bad because they aren't the same.

Not just Atheists, but why do people insult others for not having the same belief as them?
because it would be to easy to leave people alone. I've only met 2 Christian's that i can have an honest conversation and no one fights, argues, or pushes their beliefs on each other they just ask to understand. one is catholic, the other one is Jehovah's witness, and i have no religion i just believe in a higher power. We don't always agree but sometimes we come to a common understanding.

Hi. I'm an atheist, more or less. Feel free to go through my answers and find anything insulting I've said about God or Christians. I mostly post in this category, and on an individual basis, I think everyone should follow whatever religion they want.

I don't like the insults when atheists do it. I think it's ridiculous and undermines the image most atheists chose to put forth on neutrality. I like it even less when Christians do it, as they've chosen to uphold themselves to a higher standard publically...and there's been quite a bit of that on here today.

There are a few, I'll give you that...but to say "most" is a bit over the top.

I certainly don't come on here with the intention of insulting. I may make the occasional sarcastic answer that may come off insulting (as sarcasm never seems to work in cyber space). Then you do have some who take a legitimate question about their religion or the surrounding facts (or fictions) as insulting.

Two way street in that regard, but I'm here for debate...not insults.

People expressing their opinions may cause havoc in your mind but irony and sarcasm are legimitate ways to make your point. I think athiests are trying to reinforce their own view that doting on a supernatural being who has magical powers and can make you live forever if you just believe hard enough is silly to them.

Put yourself in their place, it's completely rational to see someone worshipping a shoe and think they are being silly. If I make fun of the shoe worship it's not that I hate shoes and want shoes to suffer, I'm just making fun of the idea that anyone should pray to a shoe, because their behavior is silly to me. I'm probably not going to make fun of them because I'm a nice guy, but if the same person starts shoving the shoe in my face and telling my kids to worship it or be punished, then I'm gonna feel pretty well justified in making fun of their shoe worship. Because they have thrust their beliefs into the public sphere, and challenge others to respond, they are inviting a different kind of dialog, maybe one where irony and saracasm will be used.

Instead of being insulted, it may be a good opportunity to engage the person on a dialog of why you don't find thier points persuasive.

It has nothing to do with being an athiest. Anyone who deliberately sets out to insult others (regardless of reason, creed, religion, what-have-you) are simply immature and insensitive to others. Christians can be guilty of this too.

Don't pigeon hole people just because you observe rude behavior on a message board.

it is because christians and cathlic have been the most mouthy and persecuting of others fo rthe longest time and now that the tables are turned and muslims are becoming the most mouthy christians are the ones getting picked on . it is the end of the age of pisces and we are entering into aquarius which means change of belif in the next 52yrs expect to see more atheist and less of everything else as we as a specie evolve we will become more alike this is the way. and i guess to more directly answer your question it is not aethiest so much as christian haters making havoc for religous questions. like me I hate christians with there lies and raping of boys and looking down on others and puching your beliefs on the world. so quit bitching about it and relize jesus is a lie god is a lie being a good person and finding spirit with in your self is all that matters.

Pretty much the same (non)reasons people spend more energy hating on another type of people then doing anything worthwhile. A common human failing; not even one I can say I'm completely innocent of. Atheist, Christians, and all groups of people run the gamet from great human beings to completely deplorable, and you have to deal with all of them.

Most of the questions about Christianity in the religion section are posted by fundamentalist Christians, many of whom themselves are very abusive to particularly Islam, as well and Hinduism, Judaism, Buddhism and neo-pagan religions. I'm not justifying all of the comments that atheists make, many of are rude to the point of bigotry, but there is a lot of hateful rhetoric on that board from all sides. Many of the atheists see themselves as preventing the board from being overwhelmed by fundamentalist Christians disseminating false, dogmatic, offensive, and hurtful information.
