One based on experience rather than dogma which is the only kind of religion that has any worth. If it doesn't make you a better person here and now it isn't worth believing in.

Life exists throughout the galaxy and we presume throughout the universe. The first sign a species is becoming sentient is when they have evolved to the point where they can abstract enough to invent a god. The first time a species achieves sentient maturity is when they get rid of their gods. Very few species reach the stage where they venture out into space while still clinging to god concepts. The space faring species have adopted a quarantine protocol that does not allow a species to leave their star system until they evolve beyond the need for gods in order to protect less developed species who are still struggling to void their own superstitious beliefs. Earth does not really have to worry about such things though. Over the centuries, your planet was a curious place to visit once or twice and was not considered very interesting . Sure, your wars showed us how undeveloped you are as a species. Your infantile,(in cosmic terms) dependence on god concepts does not bode well for you and neither does your penchant to breed beyond your planet's ability to sustain you. We are now showing an interest in you because it is not often that we get to observe a species commit suicide. You are so close to maturing as a sentient species and it will be a shame to see you kill yourselves. There are just not enough of you becoming rational enough to force the issue. You let the least among you determine your fate, so be it.

If they are more intelligent than us (and I am assuming that they are) then they would not have religion as we know it. Rather, they would have a system of living whereby all persons are honored and taken care of, and no one forced their will upon another. God would not be seen to be some sort of Super-Entity in the sky, but rather, God would be seen as the collective. Therefore, 'serving God,' would mean literally 'serving life.' What better system is there than that?

They would have religions that:

Explain the origins of their world

Exlpain the origins of their life form and other life forms (if any)

Sacralize their environment, promote social cohesion, and set up rules of conduct

Attempt to answer the questions that science cannot

*** IF they are at all like humans

If they are nothing like humans, I cannot begin to guess.
