well. rubber bands are the foce element or a component of orthodontic appliance used in the treatment of ur gaps .
well, regular bands are alomost similar to orthdontic elastic bands , but the sizes and the quality varies , these bands have to be used along with retainers placed on the teeth , and these elastic bands need to be adjusted according to the amount of space need to be closed which an orthodontist or a dentist alone can do it .so never try this at home as it may result in misalignment and other adverse affects

Not exactly. A rubber band works in conjunction with the retainer. The retainer acts as a lever so that the force of the rubber band is transformed into an even greater force against your teeth by the retainer.

yes, and cause more problems than you had to begin with. I did that when I was a child 6th grade. I now getting my teeth straigtened with Invasiline...Don't do it go to a Dentist or Orthodontist

no,besides it is very smelly n unhealthy.if u really want to close the gaps,consult ur dentist first.
