If your credit already sucks you probably have no option but to continue to use sears.
But remember...there are THOUSANDS of banks out there anxious for your business, and I'm positive that one of them will give you a much lower rate.
So just point that out to the Sears rep....lower it or cancel it.

Everything is negotiable. If Sears doesn't want to negotiate, then cancel your card. When they send you to the "person in charge of cancellations" (this is the person they train to talk you out of it), just be firm and cancel your card even if they offer to lower your rates then. If you have a balance, there are credit cards that will allow you to set up a new account with free balance transfers and some will be interest free for a year. Most credit card companies will negotiate if you have been a customer for a while and have paid you bills on time. But you have to ask. Sears will accept all major credit cards.

Bologna. I don't buy that either. They can do it. Whether or not they WANT to is the issue. It depends on your credit rating, I'm sure. If you are a high credit risk, then they'll keep your interest rate high. If you have stellar credit, they will likely lower it for you to keep your business. You might consider looking around for other credit cards that offer lower rates and then cancel your Sears credit. Sears accepts major credit cards so it shouldn't make much difference.

it's called sears sucks.
Here's my experience with sears. My boyfriend bought a 52 inch hd projection tv...it started sparking and going crazy-broken. we take it back they give us a new one, 2 weeks after getting it (just like the first) it starts doing the same thing, we call, they say to bring it back in..we have a small car...not going to happen, so we asked for them to pick it up..not without a convience charge....
in the end. sears is a money hungry store and I willl NEVER buy another thing from there...
what you will have to do is get someone else on the phone..someone higher up..call the actually card place...its a credit card right? or store credit? either way, call back demand to talk to./have the number of someone who can help you out, if they say no one can, get loud and blunt with them.

Yeah I tried that once too. I called one of my mastercards and asked for a lower rate, like they tell you to do on TV, and she said "no that is the lowest rate we can offer right now", which was 25%. From what I have seen, this only works for people with like PERFECT credit, which is what, a tenth of one percent of the population of planet earth? I feel your pain.

Sounds like you might want to rethink having that Sears account.
Since Sears can charge up to 30%....you might want to pay them off or get a consumer loan from your bank, if you don't have the cash. Otherwise you're stuck.
