- I asked this before and people say in some states (Nebraksa being one) they can.

The only people who can write prescriptions are those who are licensed to do so. MDs, some NPs and PAs. The only ones able to write controlled substances are those with clearance from the DEA.

A psychologist is a Ph.D. and is NOT able to write prescriptions.

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor and can write prescriptions.

No, Nebraska is not one of the states with prescribing privileges for psychologists. As of now, only specially trained psychologists in New Mexico, Louisiana, and some through the Department of Defense can prescribe medication.

Nebraska is the only state different than Alaska which could write perscriptions. Their are some written try that must be previous. My brother does this! understand the inhabitants is enormously much no longer something so which you will no longer detect a popular psycho degreed physician. NO business enterprise

psychologists can't write prescriptions. psychiatrsists can.
