You can learn a lot of things by watching the Food Network and buy purchasing the cookbook The Joy of Cooking. The Joy of Cooking is a staple in every American kitchen. It has everything you need to know from terms, spices and herbs, temperatures and techniques and etc.
I was brought up in a home where everyone cooked. My grandmother was more of the "scientist" in the kitchen. She experimented with foods and made notes on what worked and what didn't. My advice is to follow a recipe and then make changes to your taste the next time around.

buy a bag of those frozen chicken breasts. Take out 2 and soak in warm water a few minutes until thawed. Then put the chicken in a ziplock bag with 1/2 cup soy sauce. Bake in a pie plate (or small pan) for 25 or so minutes at 400 degrees. Serve with a baked sweet potato and a bagged salad.

There's a magazine by the same people who publish Taste of Home magazine (which is really simple on its own) called Quick Cooking or something like that. You can find it at any bookstore.

Hi there! Congratulations on getting married! I used to hate to cook, but Rachael Ray helped me to learn to love it with her 30 minute meals. I also like Cooking Light's website. I have listed several websites below, have fun looking around. Rachael Ray is my favorite, has a lot of great pasta dishes that are really easy. Enjoy!

I just got married also and believe me I didn't know how to cook but one thing has really helped me. Rachelle-Ray's 3o minute cooking show and cookbooks. My husband does not know I learned allot of my cooking this way. I'm telling you it's a life saver. You can make outstanding meals easy and simple some even under 30 minutes.

Well the quickest food is pasta, it is filling and fast. There are many ways to cook it. There are many sauces and many shapes of pasta as well. There is mac and cheese that you could make homemade in 1/2 hour, there is alfredo, homemade in 1/2 hour too. There are sauces that are jarred and require less time. I have many different pasta dishes that I use weekly, and it is always a winner. I hope that this helps you somewhat. Good luck!

CHICKEN MARSALA - In first frying pan, Cut boneless chicken into chunks or strips, coat with flour and cook in butter until all sides just start to brown, set aside. In second frying pan, melt butter and add fresh sliced mushrooms (lots) and cook until they just start to soften, add generous amount of Marsala wine and a couple of finely diced garlic cloves and cook for three minutes. Add chicken from first pan and cook until sauce thickens (flour from chicken will thicken sauce), Add a small spritz more Marsala wine ( to refresh Marsala wine flavor) and serve immediately.
