You may have psorasis, dermititis, or eczema. These are skin conditions that cause flaky and scaly skin. If that's the case you made need to go to a dermatologist to get treated. I'm assuming you've already checked for lice and fleas, and you're not using bare wire brushes or something like that on yourselves.

Are you both using the same brand of shampoo? If so, stop - even if you've been using that brand for years, that may be the cause. Try using a baby shampoo instead. Give it about two weeks to see if that clears it up. If it's still going on, go to the doctor and see what they think. It may be an allergy of some sort is messing you up.

My hairdresser told me once that this problem could be caused by not washing the products out of your hair right. Head and Shoulders really does work!!

I once had this problem and bad dandruff. My hairdresser told me to use only the tips of my fingers when washing my hair and never use my fingernails. If you are using your fingernails when washing your hair it is probably the problem. After taking his advice I haven't had that problem since and it has been many years.

I too suffer from that problem , i changed the shampoo, the water i rinse my hair with...............nothing worked!

Then i read somewhere to eat folic acid tablets....that has given me some relief and has brought the shine back into my hair+ stopped hair fall.
try it ...might work 4 u as well!

I'm inclined to agree with paconet, it may be a form of scurvy caused by a lack of vitamin C, I had a similar condition in my early teens
