If I can retreive it from my cache memory, should I take it to Best buy's tech team or a computer store.

If it went through a format durring the recovery, high chance that you can't. You can check with best buy and see if they have a tool (they do exist, but are expensive) that can recover deleted items from a formated hard drive. I know the best buy I woked at 4 years ago had this type of program, and I know it works.

If your system crashed, it's most likely because of corrupt system files. I believe the system restore only restores system files, and if you are able to boot up after the system restore, then your pictures should be ok.

My computer crashed a few weeks ago and I tried to reinstall Windows over the top of the over version, but it still wouldn't boot. So I ended up having to install a NEW version of windows in a different directory - I didn't format, I just told it to install in another directory other than c:/windows (I think I chose c:/windows/new or something like that). When I finally got to boot up, I could see my hard drive and could get to my old files, but I couldn't boot to that version of windows. I was able to copy them to an external drive and save them, then I wiped everything off of my hard drive and reinstalled a clean version of Windows.

Also, you can try and boot into Safe Mode and see if you can get to your things to save them.

Hope this helps.

For data recovery, you can rely on a data recovery program to recover your pics, videos and other data from the crashed laptop. Download this one to have a try.

It can recover lost data due to drives crash, system sabotage, etc.

System restore will revert your cpu to its original configuration. Any additional programs or data you've added prior to crash will be lost. Try doing a system REPAIR and save your data.
