Crate training is the best method I've found. Find one that will be large enough to fit the dog once he has fully matured. Here's the key: make sure the area he has access to is only enough room for him to turn around in and lie down. Many crates come with dividers to allow your pet to grow. Naturally, dogs don't like to potty in the same area as they sleep. That's why you don't want to give your pet free roam of a room or house without direct supervision until they can be trusted.

As soon as you come home, take the puppy directly outside to give a potty break. Feeding multiple meals daily for a growing puppy is highly recommended, and about 15-30 minutes after eating is an excellent time to take him out. This is also helpful. Until you know how your puppy will do, you may not want to leave food or water in the crate since this will lead to the little one needing to relieve himself while you're not watching for his signs. A small amount of water should be ok.

I have trained my dog doing this, and many other clients I talk with love this method. I think it seems to be much quicker with better results since we are using the puppy's natural instincts to our advantage. It also protects your puppy and your belongings while you're out. There's very little mischief one can get into while staying in a crate. Now that my dog is older, I leave the door open on the crate if I am home. He really likes it. It's his own little "bedroom".

Good luck with the new addition! I hope all goes well!

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://bitly.im/aMQf3

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

Well instead of me typing the whole procedure on here, you just need to go to www.leerburg.com He has a great website of behavior and training and is very reputable. The menus are on the left, you will find many many articles on housetraining. But crate training is a MUST.

Crate training is the easiest, most effective.

If you want to do this without a crate, click belowe and scroll down to house training:

Be sure to get him neutered to keep him from marking. This will also make training easier as he will be more focused on you.

Well this will sound weird but with large breeds this works great (Large breeds are easy to train as well)

Have him go out every 2 hours for 48 hours (yes, you'll need to set your alarm) and praise him each time he goes :)

Walk around with him while out there - they get to sniffing eventually and go

Great tips on potty training.

Also........You should not be concerned about how quick you can do this. Any training takes time and patience.
