I just encountered a phony depression victim here (surprise surprise). I would like to give her a tip. When considering threatening suicide on a web forum, please remember that others can access your answer/question history and see that you had just finished giving mental health advice to someone else. You don't cover your tracks too well. Busted!!

What other tips would you like to give to the phony posters here?

The fact that you think a "suicidal" person should give advice to someone who is depressed is hilarious! Do you not see the irony in that?

whoa, she seemed to have the answer to her own problem in giving advice to another. All I could say is that i have been through depression before. I did get through my rough time. depression is a serious issue. don't take it lightly.

That is so true. If you tell a person who is "threatening to commit suicide" to do it (b/c you just want to be mean or funny), and they really do end up killing themselves - you can be fully responsible. I know it can be absurd... but surely it does happen.
Another tip: Just like myspace and facebook, employers can look up your yahoo screen name and see what kind of information and content you are writing online. I am a college student and i WILL NOT sign up for a myspace/facebook account because it is a permanent record.

That is true that she might be depressed too and yes you can be depress and give advice to someone else just like in other cases people might say to someone not to do something but they end up doing it. but i hope she's not lying about that because it's not something you play around with... but if she is lying she has to deal with it not us

I have a problem with your idea. Just because she gave advice doesn't mean she isn't depressed. Careful how you judge.

Urge her to help ease overpopulation by following through on her threat... make it clear that none of us will respect her for her BS unless she makes good on it.

I'd say, stop getting all tied up in details of what others do or dont do and just leave them alone.
