You can be but just depends on you and the doctor. I was medically discharged last year. Torn rotator cuff, 4 years of goin to the hospital everytime it dislocated (at least once a month), had 2 surgeries and its still goes out on me.

Its a long process to get a medical discharge especially if you dont want to get out. I was willing to get out and I think mine took a little over a year. Hopefully you got a good military doctor that is goin to be straight with you. I was lucky, there is plenty of info on the web about a MEB (medical evaluation board). If your in the AF go to AFPC homepage and there was AFI's and other info on it.

Well hope it helps.

What Branch?
What is your MOS or rating?
Anyway...saw something in news about Marine losing hands in IRAQ.....He is still in uniform and still serving.
Comply with any medical instructions...therapy etc.
Express desire to remain in military if that is your wish.
You did not say whether you liked the military.
Military people are not rubber stamping automotons.
You may have to change MOS but I knew COAST GUARD guy with missing finger and he stayed on duty aboard USCGC DAUNTLESS.
I did ten years USCG.

depends on if they botch the surgery. If it prevents you from doing normal things.

I had a buddy who had major knee surgery done as he got into the army.

He's now in Afghanistan working fine.

It depends if you want to be or not. If you want to be play into the pain of it and if you dont then just act like it dont bother you. My ex was in Iraq and got hit by an IED and broke both of his legs and has pins in one leg .. got hurt pretty bad and he is still in because he wants to be.

Its likely to happen since the military doesnt want that liability.
But let your CO's take it to battalion...during this time go see the medical folks whenever possible, it will beef up your chances.

If you cannot perform your duty you'll most likely receive a honorable discharge. However if you're still out there fighting, good luck.

Not if the military fixes it (due to being caused while on duty). If it can be repaired, you stay.

It depends on how well the surgery goes.

Thank you very much, while you're up.
