Just beware the long legged ones, with a tan coat featuring black stripes: they're like tigers!

I have a Jack Russell crossed with a Border terrier and while he is not as you describe (he is long legged and Border terrier coloured), when I bought him and saw his brothers and sisters they all were short legged and mainly black with tan markings. They looked very much like short legged Jack Russells but definitely had a Jack Russell for a mum and a Border terrier for a dad.
There is also a guy who lives in the same town who has a small black and tan terrier which looks exactly like my dog's siblings and he says it is also a Jack Russell and Border terrier cross.
So, maybe it's crossed with a Border terrier!

Jack Russells(Parson Russels) are mostly white with brown or black spots. If the dog is black/tan, it is not a JR.

I have a tri coluored JRT he has had many litters and he throws black and tan puppys every time and usually one or two the same colour as him. His mum and dad were pure JRT's and I would only allow him to sire pure puppys so I guess they can be black and tan.

I have one that has light tan on its ears and around it's eyes and the tan is darker on it's body and tail(looks more reddish). She is a purebred with papers. She looks like the one on Fraiser or the move Mask but just a lighter color.

"Color White, white with black or tan markings, or a combination of these, tri-color. Colors are clear. As long as the terrier is predominantly white, moderate body markings are not to be faulted. Grizzle is acceptable and should not be confused with brindle. Disqualification: Brindle markings."

no, i think it's original.... I lot all about jack russell terriers... and they sometimes comes in 3 colors, TAN, BLACK AND WHITE... all at the same time...

You can see little spots in their skin, like a dalmatian even when their hair is white...
