3 MEN GO INTO A MOTEL. THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK SAID THE ROOM IS $30, SO
EACH MAN PAID $10 AND WENT TO THE ROOM.

A WHILE LATER THE MAN BEHIND THE DESK REALIZED THE ROOM WAS ONLY $25, SO
HE SENT THE BELLBOY TO THE 3 GUYS' ROOM WITH $5.

ON THE WAY, THE BELLBOY COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO SPLIT $5 EVENLY
BETWEEN 3 MEN, SO HE GAVE EACH MAN A $1 AND KEPT THE OTHER $2 FOR
HIMSELF.

THIS MEANT THAT THE 3 MEN EACH PAID $9 FOR THE ROOM, WHICH IS A TOTAL OF
$27, ADD THE $2 THAT THE BELLBOY KEPT = $29.

WHERE IS THE OTHER DOLLAR?

There is no other dollar. The room was $25, split 3 ways is about $8.33 paid by each man. If the bellboy had split the $5 change evenly each man would have received about $1.67. BUT the bellboy kept $2 for a tip meaning each man would have provided about $0.67 each. Since the men were only given $1 each they actually paid about $9.33 each for the room.

The dollar is still there. If you look at it. this way. $25 split up 3 ways is 8.33333333333 but you see that 2 paid 8 and one paid $9. That equals up to $25. Add the three dollars that they got and it adds upt to $28. The bellhop kept $2 and then add it to the $28 and there is $30. The dollar is still there. It depends on how you add it up. The bellhop just considers it as a tip.

Wrong conclusion!!! Read it more carefully and you'll understand that you CANNOT add $27 and $2. You must DEDUCT $2 from $27. Here is why: Each man ended up paying $9 for the room. $9x3=$27. So out of that amount ($27) the Desk guy got $25 and the Bellboy got $2. So what exactly does 27+2 stand for? HUH? Nice try though! Bring 'em on!!!!

To be precise each person payed $9 and 33 cents not just $9 for the room. You calculated the problem wrong to begin with. So, in fact the one dollar is split to 33 cents for the 3 people who stayed in the room wich equals to 99 cents, close to the dollar.

actually not including the $2 tip each man actually paid about $8.33 before they received their dollar back. Because you would take 25 and divide that by 3 first.

there is no other dollar because the five dollar discount made the room 25$ and the five he gave back to the bell boy makes 30
$ .
