That is what Koran says that one has to believe in Allah, the Prophet Muhammad as the last Prophet and what he has said as revelation of God to him. The Bible says that one has to believe God as the father of Jesus, the son of a virgin mother. But Indian philosophy neither says what you have to believe or disbelieve. It only insists that your search for Truth is the very purpose for which you have been given this birth. Live a purposive life and discover the Truth. That is how from Buddha up to Mahatma Gandhi and thousand others not known, who were as well as now living have realised the Truth in their own ways.

Hence, one need not believe in the Prophets and still evolve in the spiritual path like Sufis among the Muslims.

I love incoherent questions like this that can mean almost anything.
Must someone believe in Prophets apart from God?
No.
Is anyone to believe in Prophets, other than God?
I should hope so!
So what exactly are you asking?

We are to put our faith in God alone. yes God can and has used prophets but there can be false prophets as well. We definitely have the right to judge their messages and there are a number of criteria that the bible provides for judging these messages. I 'll give a quick run down although I don't have the time right now to look up each verse. If they prophesy something and it doesn't come to pass don't believe them. If they do prophesy certain things and they come to pass but they want to lead you into fol owing false Gods again don't believe them. There were a few more but i honestly don't remember hem right now. I will add this Paul said I believe in 1 Galatians if I or angel from heaven preach another gospel other than what we have preached let him be accursed. In other words Paul was giving us permission to question those that are teaching things that aren't found in the bible. he didn't put himself on a pedestal but in fact let us know we have some responsibility to search and test the messages that are being given.

Many believe in prophets. As long as we do not force people to believe against their will, we will be OK. Do not also insist that what you personally believe is the only truth.
