I was about 5, my mom had one open, and let me try a drink when I asked. Didn't care for it much then, like Guinness the best now.

I think parents put a bit of beer on their fingers and get their babies to try it just to watch the faces that they make. Parents often let kids have a sip when they are old enough to be curious 7-9, and they usually hate the taste even then.

First of all, I want to address our Society and drinking. You see, there is nothing wrong with drinking beer, wine etc.. The problem lies within our Society. Society teaches that drinking is wrong, therefore, teens etc.. start to do this act out of rebellion in general.
I believe, and this is my personal belief that if we teach our children to drink in moderation. And show them that having an occassional beer, or glass of wine is not wrong. Then we are teaching not rebuking. We are showing them that drinking a beer or having one glass of wine is not a sin or a deadly wrong. Its the drinking in large quanities that make it wrong. Getting drunk..
So, I believe that many teens and kids try drinking to resolve problems that they face everyday, they try it for rebellion, an escape from their daily lives and try it because their friends drink to get drunk.
Look at other countries, In Spain it is taught that drinking in MODERATION is fine. Not a bad thing.
There are more accidents, suicides, DUI's, deaths because of the way our Society has deemed drinking.
We need to take a second look and figure out how we can teach our children the rights and wrongs. When I was a teen, anything that my parents taught me, I rebelled against, even God.
Now, I teach my son differently. He understands that his mother loves the Lord with all her heart. He also see's his mother toasting with a glass of wine in celebration of Thanksgiving. However, he sees his mother drinking one maybe two glasses and then quiting. I dont get drunk. I dont act differently. I am a Christian woman that loves the Lord. We pray with our kids, love our kids and show them respect and try to teach the ways of God.
Society as a whole has given us rules and standards to live by. We dont tolerate drinking because it is sinful. But is it really the drink or the drunk?
Hugs, hope this helps..

At the first given oportunity ! It is the only food that is supposed to be bad for you that actually does you the world of good, ....hops, barley etc..
Unfortunately being a woman I am nervous to be seen to like this cost effective, nice tasting (well I think so) and enduring drink in public.
I first drank it at about 15 years old, far too late ...look at all those years I missed out !

This reminds me of the movie "Vacation". Chevy Chase decides to share a "first" beer with his son. Hands the beer to his Son and he kills it!

I was 18 and in college, and a friend offered me a beer while we were sitting in her room. It wasn't a party, just lounging around. It was horrible! Then again, it was Old Milwaukee Light.
