I have been off this forum for about 4 days now because I had other matters to attend to. Since I have been off I have recieved 16 messages from various friends. It would seem that because of someone's religion choice they have received hate mail and threats, which has caused them to leave this forum. It happens to be someone of the muslim religion. Why is this religion so fowned upon? Is there something that I am not aware of that makes it so horrible? Please Enlighten me?

I left because of the death threats but I resurrected myself in a new account and maybe it'll take them a little longer to find me this time.Spooky how things happen, isn't it? I don't know what's up with all the threats everyone's getting...my guess is over-exhuberant trolls with nothing better to do with their time. But I've been wondering where all the familiar faces had gone off to...you were one of those whose disappearance I had pondered.
To answer your question...I guess religions are frowned upon when the actions of a few bring disgrace to the many. Islam itself isn't horrible, just some of its followers. Same holds true for all religions.

Frydaddy, Since this is a public forum you are going to find all kinds of people on here. Some poeple disable their email and others don't. I have never gotten any hate mail, but that does not mean I won't in the future. I just come on here and ignore anything I don't like. And you can always report someone if they say something against the community guidelines. Some days it's pretty tame on here and some days .......... I have no idea why some people think religion is so horrible, but obviously they do. And some people just get their jollies by bashing other peoples beliefs. Then there are some really great people on this site. It takes all kinds to make the world go around. And you will find that they are all here. Have a great day!

Islam is a lovely religion with a few horrible people. Kind of like Christianity really. But taking a view of a whole population on just a few is ignorant. There are a great many people around here that openly express their hateful feelings about Muslims and the Islamic religion, much to the disgust of the rest of us. I’m sorry. This place is a war zone of words. You just have to fight back.

The only difficulty with the Muslim religion is that it is the fastest growing religion in the world. That means that people who might have otherwise been Christian hae found what they need in Islam.
This is a big threat to the Christian leadership who are afraid that their numbers will dwindle.
big lies are told about Islam and there are too many Christians who believe them. I am sure the other answers will go to prove what I say.
Addendum: I just reviewd the answers and found some very reasonable ones. I guess the hatemongers are still sleeping,

There is nothing about Islam that you should be made aware of that makes it horrible. The only horrible thing around here is the hate, propaganda, stereotype and generalizations that are posted everyday. I don't leave my email box open for people i don't know to sent me mail be that hate or any other kind and i suggest you tell your friends to do the same. I'm a Muslim and i assure you there is nothing in my religion that you should worry about. Carry on making friends with people because you like them as people, don't let these hate mongers turn you into one of there sheep. Good luck.

There's nothing horrible about the friends in question, you and I know that.
What is horrible is that anyone would harass these lovely people so much as to make them no longer wish to participate here.
Respectful disagreement is one thing, but NO ONE has the right to send hate mail or threats. (I've been threatened by forum participants as well.)
I hope they come back; in the meantime could we all learn from the loss of some very bright and loving voices and be a bit more respectful?

Right now, Islam isn't viewed in a positive light (I blame the media) some times, someone will take that negitivity and run with it. IT's like saying all Muslims are terrorists because a few extremists blew themselves up. Not true, because we have seen the evidence here by some really nice Muslims.
I'm sorry your friend left.

Opinion about a religion cannot be based on the doings of a few. Actions of a handful do not reflect what a religion preaches.
I recommend going through following two web-sites

The government has made efforts to equate muslim with terrorist.
Those with simple minds follow the goverments propaganda and start to hate muslims too.
The religion is a silly as Christianity, but the government causes the hate.

children love to play and untill a parent slaps there hands or pattles there behind they seem to not know that what they are doing is wrong and they always ask why so you have children who see the adults doing something and they think it is the right thing to do and they dont ask themselves if it really is the right thing to do they just follow the pack and do as the pack.
there is nothing wrong with the muslim religion. and for those who claim that the god of that religon said to kill everyone who is not of that religon should also look at what there god said about the people who dont follow that god like the bible in the old testament that god said to kill all people who are gentiles but then the new testament came along and said there is no difference between the jew and the gentile so the new testament found a way for everyone to get along. but people who havent read the muslim book have no idea if it was fixed later down the road. i have not read the book that the muslims read so i have no idea what its about. but i do know that you dont go around hating other peoples religons without doing real research into its belifes. why be a sheep and follow the rest to the butcher shop. be an adult and think for yourself and then keep your opinion to yourself. if you dont follow budda then so be it dont follow and if you dont follow jesus then so be it dont follow but dont stand in the way of those who do follow whatever god they choose to follow. and if you dont have the education in that religon dont belive what the media says without first learning the truth. and then again dont cause problems for those who choose to belive. there are people in the usa called jahovas witness who come by. i dont belive in ther belifes but i am nice and say im not interested but thanks for thinking about me and taking the time out of your life to come by and ask me. and if muslims or christans come by ill do the same.
we have freedome of religon in this country and freedom of speach i choose my speech to be thanks for the offer of your religon but ill stay with mine ill look into yours so i know i have made the right choice or so ill know if i made a mistake by following the pack. its my soul i should be the one to decide what god ill trust it to. so to answer your qustion. read ther book and learn for your self its your soul who will you trust it to when you pass on and only when we die will we really know the truth.
