The average age is around 2 1/2, but that doesn't mean your child will be ready by then. Some are ready sooner and some don't do it until they are 3 or 4. You just have to keep an eye on them and start doing it when they show interest.

Answered this same type of ? a bit ago:

OK
I had all three of my kids in underwear by the age of 2.

I did not give candy or spank!!!

You have to take the time to work this out - here is how I handled it.

Whenever I gave them a drink, about 15 - 20 minutes later I would go and sit them on the potty and say - ok, try and potty....if they did not go, I would return them to the potty in another 5 - 10 minutes and they would normally do it. This way they understand those feelings - they have to LEARN to have control over there body.

I never put pull ups on them, it just feels like a diaper and they know they can use it in the thing. i put cotton training pants on them...yes, you will have to maybe clean up a few messes, but that is part of being a parent and teaching.

I NEVER had a problem with any of my kids wetting the bed...I monitored the amount they drank before bed and even now that they are 5 & 6 - I always make them go one last time right before bed.

GOOD LUCK

PS - boys do not learn to potty standing up, they learn easier sitting first. Every child is different so you would be the best judge on age. But the whole idea is to get them to learn to control their bladder - they don't know how yet.

I would say whenever your child is ready. I know it's vague, but it's true.
I started 1 week after my son turned 2 and he was potty trained in 1 week, no accidents. Of course he had to have night diapers on til he was 3, but that's nothing.
I started with my daughter at 1 1/2 and that was really a disaster. So from now on, I'll just try every month or so. I'm really ready to get her out of diapers!!
So once you start the potty training, I'd say if after 2 to 3 days, if they haven't started running to the potty or giving you some indicator that they have to go, I'd say stop for another month or so.
Good luck! It's definently a journey!

I'm amazed that someone would teach a child much less then 1 yr. Most youngsters are completely educated by way of three. I have discovered the traditional to be 2 or so.. And 2 1/2 for night occasions. Just like kids walk and talk at distinctive a while, potty training will occur at distinctive ages.. I do not suppose in pushing it.. I have one grandson that took his diaper off at thirteen months and stated 'pee?' but he is not educated completely yet and became 2 Jan 2. He started off early and i assume he transformed his mind...

Most folks i think start at age 2 and by age 3 the kid is potty trained.
But I have friends from the "islands" who say they start potty training as soon as the kid can walk. I think I will try that with my granddaughter.
