I think you can join if you have parental permission. Call around and ask, and find out if your folks will go with you to get you signed up. You won't stunt your growth, as long as you don't do any heavy lifting. Everyone, including young children, needs exercise! Hit the treadmills and do light weights... it will be good for you.

Doubtful. Too much of a liability. They may allow you to use some non-weight related things: treadmill, basketball court, pool, etc. and many gyms offer a "family" package which would allow minors access to those activities. I believe the general consensus is that at 14 you should avoid weight/resistance training.

You don't mention why you want to join. If it's to build strength, you can do that by doing basic exercises, using your body weight. Push-ups, pull-ups, squats or one-legged squats, which are a bit harder, would target the larger muscle groups.

Not sure where you live, but here in Northern VA there are rec centers kids can use with quality weight equipment, and there are also weight rooms in school. See if something like that is available--it's not as cool as a gym, but it'll do the job until you are old enough.

i assume that's undesirable manners for any male to work out in a public area and not using a shirt on. i'm particular that a tanktop won't slow you down that plenty. besides, a shirt could carry you from sweating everywhere the placement.
